T his year at the annual Sammies hosted by SN&R, the UpRockers are showing up in force! The Sammies have been going for 22 years strong in Sacramento and many big names have been involved on their way to fame. We’re extremely honored to have been involved in some great projects over the last year. Some very talented people that we’ve been fortunate enough to work with are going to be recognized along with Sacramento’s best and brightest. A big thank you goes out to all the people that have helped us get out of our garage and to where we are today! Before you sit back and celebrate though, help us take one more big step and put in your vote at

Stevie Nader – 4 nominations!

Stevie’s album really took us in a direction we hadn’t been in as a studio. His songwriting and one of a kind voice together with John Glover’s knack for interesting, quirky and engaging production really fused together in a unique way for Stevie’s debut album “333.” Who could ask for a better first appearance at the Sammies? Stevie is nominated for:
  • -Live Performer
  • -New Artist
  • -Singer-Songwriter
  • -Release of the Year (for his album, “333″)

Derek Thomas Band – Jazz

When Derek Thomas showed up and asked us to record his band, not only were we excited, but we were a bit nervous too. It was our first time recording a genre that really needs to be done just right or not at all. This local jazz band has a little bit of everything to offer: Tasty jazz rhythms, funky guitar licks, blasting horn sections, and boy can Derek blow! If you get a chance to see them live, definitely don’t miss the opportunity. The Derek Thomas Band is nominated for Jazz

John Glover – Rock Producer

John (one of the UpRock owners) has been a busy guy over the last year! Not only did he record and mix many full projects, but many of these projects have asked him to produce too. Add to that a couple film/commercials scores and you’ve got one busy dude! His background in playing hardcore/experimental rock and studying music that seemingly breaks the rules has left him with a unique sound of his own. John isn’t afraid to try new sounds or rhythms that make think before you can dance to them. His scoring background gives him the ability to make his productions pluck the right emotional string at the right time. Make sure to check out his production work for on Stevie Nader’s new “333″ album. Oh, and vote for him for Rock Producer.

UpRock Audio – Recording Studio

Last but not least, your friendly neighborhood music lesson and recording studio was also recognized. That’s one small step for mankind and one giant leap for UpRock Audio! Maybe that’s not right. Anyway, we’re grateful to all those who nominated us and pumped for the exposure that comes along with it. We’re not yet three years young and we’ve got a LOT more music to make. We won’t stop till all the iPods in Sacramento are pumping to the likes of Stevie Nader, Zanko and M.Born. Help us reach that next milestone and vote for us for:Recording Studio. Thanks!
