Being both very well run and having an abundance of talented musicians in attendance, this open mic experience provides all the longed for elements: a beautiful and comfortable mixed indoor/outdoor setting, great beverages and the additional availability of delicious food, good sound reinforcement and a nice stage feel, as well as a nice variety amongst the styles and types of performers.
“…beautiful setting, great beverages and food, good sound, and a nice feel…” The added bonuses are the warmth of a fire among a very inviting couch setting backed by ivy and over hardwood flooring. And, dare I say but I must, the comforting option of a relaxing indoor space to get away from the music if the need should arise. No uncomfortable shoulder-to-shoulder standing and no shouting over a wailing performer to get your coffee order in.
The open mic is hosted by David Albertson, a local guitarist and instructor, with the assistance of various friends and band mates. You can find David teaching at any of a number of local music studios, or performing around town with his band Pointdexter. Check them out here “No uncomfortable shoulder to shoulder standing, and no shouting over a wailing performer to get your coffee order in!”
Sign ups for performers are held between 6pm and 7pm, and the open mic runs from 7pm to 10pm. The event is all ages, no cover, and each performer is allotted a 3 song (15 min max) time slot. As of this writing, the open mic is held every first and third friday of the month.
Be sure to bring a stomach full of butterflies, your instrument of choice, and at least a few close friends to share in the good time.
